Welcome to
Philly's Got Dance

Our Story
Philly’s Got Dance was founded in 2014 by LaVonda Jenkins with a simple belief: children deserve a place where they feel seen, supported, challenged, and celebrated. What began as a neighborhood dance program grew into a youth-development organization serving children, families, schools, and community partners. As PGD grows into new communities, that purpose remains the same—meet people where they are and create opportunities that help them move forward.
Our Mission
Our mission is to encourage self-esteem and leadership through dance and performance art.We combine quality instruction with mentorship, enrichment, career exposure, and community engagement so participants can develop their talents while discovering what is possible for their future.
What Makes PGD Different
We listen before we build.
Whether we are working with families, schools, churches, recreation departments, or community organizations, we begin by understanding what people need. Then we create programs that complement what is already working and help fill the opportunities that are missing.
PGD brings together dance, performing arts, leadership, mentorship, STEM, financial literacy, career exploration, bully prevention, self-defense, internships, and workforce development.
Our Community Commitment
We believe strong programs are built through strong relationships.
PGD works with families, schools, colleges, churches, community centers, YMCAs, recreation departments, teaching artists, interns, and local leaders to create opportunities that are meaningful, accessible, and connected to the communities we serve.
There Is a Place for You at PGD
Whether you are looking for classes, leadership opportunities, internships, or a community program partner, we would love to connect with you.

Philly’s Got Dance has spent more than 12 years helping children and families grow through movement, performance, leadership, and opportunity.
